The Ledaig “Dusgadh” 42 years is a real specialty. This whiskey comes from the island of Mull from a distillery with a turbulent history. Established in 1798 under the name Tobermory, it has changed hands several times and was briefly renamed Ledaig in 1972. After that it wore its original name again. The distillery is still active today and products are now sold under both names.
The Ledaig “Dusgadh” 42 years is the oldest whiskey of this brand that has been bottled so far. In addition, it is limited to 500 bottles and the next bottling over 40 years old is not planned for 2036. This noble whiskey is therefore a real opportunity for collectors. The Ledaig “Dusgadh” 42 years is delivered in an elegant presentation box, each containing a copper plate. This handmade piece comes from the still in which the Ledaig “Dusgadh” was distilled for 42 years and which has since been renewed. In addition to the Ledaig “Dusgadh” 42 years, each owner of such a record receives another ten-year-matured bottle from the distillery, which comes from the last batch of this still. These 10-year-old bottlings will be available from 2025.
The Ledaig ‘Dusgadh’ 42 year old was caskd on the Isle of Mull but was then transported to the mainland where it spent much of its aging near Glasgow. In 2006 he returned to Mull and was finally bottled in his home country. Due to the different climatic influences that the Ledaig “Dusgadh” was exposed to for 42 years during its maturation, it was able to develop its intense and richly smoky character. Its color is chestnut brown.
